Traditions :: Birthday Book

As our family has grown, adopting new & meaningful traditions has been something really special to me.
And I think this one takes the #1 spot on my list of favorites.
So I just had to share with all of you!

The Birthday Book
Each year for the kids birthday, I buy a book that goes along with the theme of their party.
It many times becomes one of their birthday presents. Um, readers are leaders.
And many of these have become among our favorite books to read!
In other words, sometimes we read them over & over & over. And over.

If you don't already have a book in mind, it's pretty simple to just google, search on pinterest, or amazon.
"cupcake book" "artist picture book" "tractor kids books"
One year I even got a vintage book off etsy!

 Birds by Kevin Henkes

Grandpa's Tractor by Michael Garland

Curious George Book :: Vintage Book from Etsy
Bridget's Beret by Tom Lichtenheld

At the party I always have the book right by the door with a sign, asking all the guests to sign their name, and even write a message if they want.
I attach the invitation on the inside front cover & have a pen ready for signing.
It is such a fun keepsake & so fun to reminisce about the party each time we read it!

I just love this lasting memory & keepsake!

  1. I have to say that this is one of my favorite traditions you do too! I wish I had thought of it when ya'll were little! It will also be a great way to remember and talk about the people that were able to come to their parties each year...as those will change as they get older. As you know ALL to well, I am a big fan of traditions! So way to go girl! You make your mom super proud!!!

  2. It's me again. I will leave one of our traditions. It involves birthday's and Christmas! We give each grandchild a new Christmas ornament each year and we give them an ornament that represents their birthday theme. So, for instance (don't tell Emma and Hudson) but this year Emma will get a cute little cupcake ornament and Hudson will get a tractor. Once the kids get old enough that they aren't having themed parties, then we plan on giving them an ornament that reflects something they were involved in or maybe something new they started...a sport, piano lessons, etc. I hear from our children, how much their kids love putting those ornaments on each year and talking about all the parties they have had through the years.
